The Poon Hill Trek is a short yet captivating 3-day adventure in the Annapurna Region. Despite its brevity, it offers stunning natural beauty, allowing trekkers to experience the vibrant lifestyle of the Gurung and Magar communities, savor local foods, and enjoy the warm hospitality of the locals.
The trek begins in Pokhara, with a drive to Nayapul, the trailhead. You will hike through rice fields, traditional villages, and lush rhododendron forests, staying overnight in Tikhedhunga. On the second day, you’ll trek to Ghorepani, a picturesque Gurung village with breathtaking views of the Annapurna range.
The final day is the highlight, with a hike to Poon Hill at sunrise. From here, you’ll witness the stunning views of Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, and other snow-capped peaks. After soaking in the beauty, you’ll trek back to Nayapul and return to Pokhara.

Clothing: Wool or fleece hat, thick gloves, hiking boots, 2 T-shirts, spare underwear (disposable recommended), windbreaker, down jacket, fleece pants, 2-3 quick-drying clothes, warm socks, lightweight slippers

We will begin our journey early in the morning after breakfast, taking a local bus from Pokhara to Nayapul, which will take about an hour and a half. Nayapul marks the starting point of our trek, where we’ll get our permits checked before starting the hike.
Our trek to Tikhedhunga will lead us through beautiful meadows, streams, and suspension bridges, enhancing the experience. After a 30-minute walk along the Modi River, we will reach Birethanti (1,100m), a small village by the riverbank. From there, a 4-hour trek will take us to Hile (1,500m), followed by a short climb to Tikhedhunga.
Tikhedhunga offers stunning views of Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Fishtail, and Himchuli, along with the warm hospitality of locals and charming tea houses. We’ll spend the night in one of these traditional tea houses.

We are on the set to move towards Ghorepani after breakfast, the pleasant walk of ascending is logically scenic and offers great views of the Machhapuchare and Annapurna south at the same time you will be seeing the gorgeous flowers of rhododendron in flowering season through the lush forest of Magnolia and rhododendron, after a few hours of ascending we will reach Bhanthati where we will be taking a short break for the lunch then the final push to Ghorepani for another 2 hours.
This day is one of the most exciting days of our whole trip. we kick off early morning with an excursion short hike to Poon Hill, Poon Hill is located at an elevation of 3210 meters above sea level, offers indescribably wonderful panoramic mountain views of Dhaulagiri I, Annapurna I, and Manalsu illuminated by the glowing rays of sunrise. In our short time at Poon Hill, we will greatly be appreciated by this rewarding view of the mighty mountains with a glorious sunrise than we take a step back to Ghorepani, Ulleri, and Hille, From Hille, we will be retracing to Pokhara by Jeep/taxi or bus.
